Re: Opening additional Tabs

If it helps, I get an error message when I click to download Avant either from the Avant download page or Cnet. What does the error message say? Try this: http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=33047. If that doesn't fix it, try reinstalling Avant from a new download of the installer. S...

Re: Avant completely bugged in Windows 8

I've also had problems with build 112 that weren't there in build 110. No steps forward and two steps back.

Re: Opening additional Tabs

Click the Avant icon in the upper-left corner of the window, and choose Tools > Avant Browser Options > New Tab. About 2/3 of the way down on the right, under 'Always create new tab in the:' click the button for Background.

Re: Be careful where you click

I hear you. I much preferred Secunia PSI 2.x to 3.x. After a few version 3.x releases, I got fed up and went back to 2.0 (it's actually 2.0.0.4003), and it's still working fine for me. It's available at http://secunia.com/PSI2Setup.exe, if you're interested. Counting Avant, at least four programs th...

When a setting in Avant Browser Options doesn't work

I've had this happen enough times that I think it's some kind of a bug, but I found a simple workaround that has done the trick for me for several different settings. The most recent time, the setting that wasn't working right was the one for opening new tabs in the foreground. Most of the time, the...

I forgot to mention that this was not a problem in any of the builds prior to 112.

Firefox engine always crashes -- build 112 USB -runextra

This is 100% reproducible. If Avant 2013 build 23 is already running (default rendering engine = Firefox), and I start build 112 USB with the -runextra switch (default rendering engine = Firefox), Avant runs, but the content is never loaded in any tabs. After 20 seconds or so, I get the purple 'Some...

Dismayed, disheartened, and disappointed

That's how I feel after waiting 39 days for a new build and finding out that, once again, the changes in the new build (112) include only a handful of relatively minor bug fixes (and updated versions of the Firefox and Chrome engines). There are quite a few outstanding bugs that are much more seriou...

That's the way it works in Avant 2013. See http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic ... om#p189693.

Yep, it's no longer part of Firefox either in ver. 23. Mozilla must have migrated its functions into one of the other files.

Ad-blocker extensions for Facebook (for all three engines)

I posted this information in another thread, but I think it should be here also. This is a list of add-ons that can block ads on Facebook, and in some cases, other websites as well: AdBye – For Facebook , Ad blocker , Ad Killer , remove all Facebook ads , and Updated Ad Blocker for Firefox 11+ . If ...

Re: Qclean Firefox Addon Issue

There are other add-ons for Firefox that can block ads on Facebook. I haven't tried all of these, but here's a list of the ones I'm aware of: AdBye – For Facebook , Ad blocker , Ad Killer , remove all Facebook ads , and Updated Ad Blocker for Firefox 11+ . If you're familiar with using Greasemonkey ...

Re: XPCOM

It may be completely irrelevant, but I looked for xpcom.dll in my computer. I did find something with that name, but it was among the files of Libre Office 3.5. It has no connection with either Firefox or Avant. If you have only build 110 installed, or if you're running the Lite version (or both), ...

Re: XPCOM

I did some checking on the xpcom situation. xpcom.dll has been part of every version of Firefox and gecko for years, and every build of Avant 2013 from build 23 through build 109 included xpcom.dll in the \Avant Browser\gecko\ folder (I haven't checked any builds prior to 23 or any builds of Avant 2...

Re: XPCOM

xpcom.dll is kept in the gecko folder, not in the Avant program folder or the Avant Profiles folder. The Firefox engine cannot run without xpcom.dll. The xpcom error is unlikely to be caused by a damaged profile, but renaming the Avant Profiles folder as a test is worth a try. If you rename the geck...

Re: Cannot log in to financial ints

On my rendering engine I have two choices IE compatible, and IE9 standards on the w7 machine. I will check to see what it takes to add the the other engines.. If you're using the Lite version of Avant, those are the only engines you'll have. If you want to try the other engines (Firefox and Chrome)...
