I use A-squared anti-trojan software, and with AB 10.1 beta 8 I get an alert every time I exit AB which says that "C:\Program Files\Avant Browser\asvc.exe" is trying to install a service or device driver.

What is this asvc.exe program and what is it used for ?

Try to use some proxy server and go to http://whatismyip.com with any browser (Firefox/Mozilla/Opera/Internet Explorer/Avant Browser) Even if I'm using the "anonymous proxy server" or even "highly anonymous" and programs like ProxyWay,whatismyip.com still show me 2 IPs 1 my real IP and another IP o...

I would know because I have looked at the assembly code of AB, after dis-assembling it (illegal though it may be!). That's exactly the kind of response I expected from an AB fan/mod! I'm pointing out a serious flaw in AB, and you can only criticise me for doing so. Granted _DrDrrae_ there are workar...

*** AB IS NOT A SECURE BROWSER !!!!! ******* Not impressed Anderson! AB still requests Favicon over port 80, even though I have set up AB to use port 8080. This is a security vulnerability because it can expose your real IP address when you think you are using a proxy! What needs to be done to get ...

AB still requests Favicon's using direct connection instead of using AB custom proxy setting. This compromises privacy and is a security vulnerability for this reason. Why won't you fix it ????????? FavIcons still always requested through IE proxy settings, instead of using AB Proxy setting (as is the case with all other requests made by AB).

Why ?????

FavIcons are always requested through Ie proxy settings connection, instead of using AB specific proxy settings when required. All other requests for web pages respect the AB proxy settings, except for requests for the FavIcon. ** This is a security vulnerability in AB and would be very easy to fix ...

A compromise of your privacy is a security vulnerability IMO.

Privacy is compromised because your real IP (instead of proxy IP) can be tracked when FavIcon is requested.

FavIcons are not downloaded using proxy settings (if set up). They are always requested/downloaded using IE proxy settings. Please can this be changed for AB 10.1 so that AB proxy setting is used to download FavIcons, instead of always using IE proxy settings. This is a security vulnerability, altho...

After a bit of investigation with a packet sniffer, I managed to find the problem. AB sends a request for the favicon over port 80, even if you've chosen to use a proxy. When using a proxy, AB should send ALL requests (including those for the favicon) through this proxy! As mentioned before this is ...

AB uses incorrect method to set itself as the default browse

There might be a possible bug with the way AB sets itself as the default web browser. After looking into it, AB creates a new key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell\AvantBrowser and also sets this Default Value of HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\HTTP\shell to AvantBrowser. I also use Firefox, and the way AB sets itself...

No, but that's not my point. I'm just reporting that there appears to be a bug in AB, since I have no problems loading this page in IE with RT Script protection enabled.

I've narrowed it down even further to the Real-Time Script monitoring.

I've tracked the problem down to the Kaspersky Anti-Virus Real-Time monitor. When disabled, AB doesn't crash and loads the page.

I'm using KAV Personal MP3 beta 5.0.274

I've tried IE, and the page loads correctly, even with KAV RT protection active.

Thanks abfan123, that does seems to work. :D

So it would appear to only be a problem when you use custom proxy settings in AB.

Please can this be fixed for the next release of AB.

Any news when this might be fixed ? I ask because neither IE or Firefox cause the Anonymizer client to try to connect when running, unless I have specifically set Proxomitron up to send the HTTP traffic to the Anonymizer client. AB is the only browser which causes the Anonymizer client to try to con...
