Re: Backgroup apps show through or inverse happens

Oops, I thought 7.6.4 was the latest Roboform. (Boy, they update it incredibly often!) Jasmine, thank you for the comment: I upgraded to Roboform 7.6.6 and so far the problem does not exist. And I have another reason to be optimistic: In the release notes for 7.6.5, Roboform says that they fixed a p...

Re: Backgroup apps show through or inverse happens

Update: When I switch rendering modes to standards, nothing changes (as I said). But when I switch rendering modes to standards, then quit/restart Avant, every tab shows NO content at all! I then must switch back to IE9 mode and again quit/restart Avant just to get back to the first set of problems!

Re: Backgroup apps show through or inverse happens

I am using 2012 build 8, in IE9 mode (but have tried the compatible mode with no improvement). It looks like a lot of other people are having similar troubles, and probably it is also related to the fact that I run RoboForm (latest version). In my case it has gotten much worse recently and Avant is ...

Backgroup apps show through or inverse happens

Having major focus-related issues: 1. Applications that are "behind" Avant Browser often show in front of Avant's window; 2. Sometimes the opposite happens: applications that are in front of Avant Browser get overwritten by Avant's content; 3. Any Roboform or other dialog box that pops up and overla...

It's 3/4 of a year later and your post is still helping people --thanks! (Just got IE8rc1 and ran into this problem.)

Re: Option to disable variable tab width

I'm new to this discussion, but I see that I'm not the only person who HATES the new variable-width tabs. I've used Avant Browser for many years ... PLEASE go back to fixed-width (or at least user-settable minimum-width) tabs!!

Re: HotkeyP - Freeware

Question: How to REMOVE a hotkey from a program? Avant Browser uses F12 and Ctrl-Shift-L for certain things, but I need ONE of those two keystrokes to NOT be assigned so that a very useful 3rd-party JavaScript (Firebug Lite) can intercept that keystroke and do its thing. Is there a way, using Hotkey...

Re: HotkeyP - Freeware

HotkeyP is a GREAT program!! Question: Is there a single place to see ALL the release notes for ALL the versions? (I like to read those sorts of things in chronological order. I'm a programmer and like to understand the development process / progression of a program I like.) To everybody: Here are j...

Re: "X" for closing windows on the tab bar

The real issue is that Avant currently does not let you turn that feature off. Will Firefox do the right thing and make it optional?

Re: "X" for closing windows on the tab bar

Having to confirm would be clumsy at best, plus more programming work (leading people to ask for an option in the preferences to turn THAT off).

Just an option in the preferences to toggle the "X" would be more than fine, and simple to implement.

Re: Going back to the old tab style (Tabs thread #1)

Please, please, please add an option to disable the "X" to close a tab -- even if it's only a cryptic registry hack for now.

Re: Please disable the X

Glad to have found this thread, because I AGREE! I need to be able to disable this thing or I'll have to revert to a much older version of Avant! Authors, are you listening? Dozens of your loyal users are hitting the close button on tabs by accident and cursing this feature. You added it but gave us...

Well, I guess my experience is different. With the same tabs open as last night, but with using the browser in between (browsing), I'm now up to 154MB this morning (from under 100 last night). I suspect it will continue to grow to 200MB, 250MB, and beyond. With NO extra tabs open.

...OK, I've quit and restarted Avant with the SAME tabs. What took up 243 megabytes now takes up 96 megabytes.

Is that normal??

My Avant (downgraded to build 17) is taking up 243 megabytes for 27 tabs, and that's NOT including the stock ticker (which I thought might be a key component of the problem). I read a lot of web pages (not just refresh the same ones over and over like the previously mentioned test, which I thus thin...

Thanks! Going down to 10.1 Build 17 seems to have helped quite a bit.

What's the latest release that does NOT have severe memory problems?

I have two problems with closing and re-opening the browser. First, it then loses all the history of all the open tabs. Sometimes that's a big deal to me. Second, my real-time stock prices Java app will quit when the browser quits but will not restart until I log in to my broker, go down several men...

Yeah, basically the same set. No big sites except a real-time stock ticker, but that mostly uses Java. Other sites are discussion boards (like this one), pages from Amazon (etc.) of stuff I'm thinking of buying, and the like. Really nothing that would take a lot of memory. I've run the browser non-s...

I can now say that it's definitely still a problem with b22!

Massive RAM usage (~175 MB) after a couple days of having about 25 tabs open. (Same set of tabs took up less than 80M in previous versions.)
