Actually I can think of no feature of Avant that can't be reproduced in Firefox - albeit with sometimes considerable customization work. However that's not my point. Rather, it's to raise the interesting possibility of allying the great interface features of Avant/Orca with this layout engine, which...

A Great Open Source Layout Engine
We've discussed before whether Avant could adopt an Open Source layout engine instead of IE's Trident, if one day Orca and Avant would become a single dual-engine browser and so on. There's even been speculation about adopting KHTML/Webkit. There's another option! I didn't expect to come across anot...

Actually it didn't crash so much as fail to run. There was no text - the menu bar wasn't populated, and I couldn't type into the address or search bars. It failed to fully download its homepage too, so the problem wasn't just the interface. Works fine under Vista for some reason - I suspect my XP ne...

I'm using it. As a web designer, it's nice to be able to test in Safari without having to find a Mac! But it would never be my day-to-day browser. When you're used to browsers with a huge range of practical, customizable features like Avant (or Firefox or, to a lesser extent, Opera) it seems so stif...

Yes, I would open it up and blow any dust out, but you shouldn't have any problems. When you do get online you'll have a lot of updates to download. Hope you have broadband! I would let your antivirus and Windows itself update before using a browser. The files and settings transfer wizard might help...

Re: Not storing bookmarks online
Thank you all for your help! Okay, I'm a dork. When I went to File --> My Account --> Switch Account, it showed that I DO have the "local storage only" option selected. So, it would seem that the reason that the Bookmarks and RSS feed boxes were greyed-out in the Online Storage options is be...

3v looks like an interesting one - especially for people like me who don't actually want to own credit cards.

Re: Avant on Mac
(Internet Explorer for Mac only works on OS 9 Macs and earlier, not OS X. As you may guess therefore it's pretty outdated now, though at one time it was the best browser available.)

Re: Learning......music, did it help?
Well English was already my first language... but, I have found songs useful in the learning of other languages.
What songs are best? That's surely a matter of personal preference. You'll learn most from the music you enjoy listening to.
