Re: New Workstation

Welcome back Tinman57. Glad to see you up and running again. Had Ubantu 2-3 years ago. Ran it and Xp an same machine. The good points you listed, I believe you. Ubantu surely boots fast and turns off quickly. As you said it does have a little learning curve. You got me interested in Ubantu again ma...

Well I'm back, but with updated news about my new WorkStation. I did some more research and wound up building an even better system. I ordered it early yesterday afternoon and should be getting it delivered next week. Here are the updated specs: Order date: 10/29/13 1 x System: ASL Marquis C528-T Wo...

Re: Alternate Browsers Review

By the way what happened to mbrazil? Did he left Avant? :( It's been a while since I've been on the forums here. If Mbrazil is missing in action, it's probably for the same reason as I, got tired of waiting for Avant to get it's "stuff" together. In the mean time, I'm using LunaScape browser that i...

New Workstation

I went to one of the local computer stores here and talked to the tech about building a workstation (not desktop, a Workstation supercomputer). The computer case I'm going with has a top eSATA slot, so I can just insert an SSD with whatever OS I want and it will boot up from there. Saves all the has...

Re: Alternate Browsers Review

Its more like list of 5 browsers to avoid: 1. Avant - no need to write about it... 2. Maxthon - same story as avant or other browsers these days, was better/more advanced in previous versions. Even though it uses webkit, it doesnt support extensions from google store. It is fast and responsive thou...

Re: EMERGENCY: Latest Avast 8 VPS 130923-1 kill Avant

Yep, I'm using Firefox (orig) now because of this. Avast says that Avant is infected with the Win32:Adware-BBZ[Adw] virus. Oh well, just as well I suppose, I'm about to dump Avant anyway.....

Re: but going backward

These lastest two updates are a joke, just like the last 8 or so updates. I'm so sick and tired of Avant stealing focus from other apps, and even stealing focus from itself. After all these years of using and supporting Avant, I think it's time to head off to greener pastures. Apparently Anderson is...

Re: Do a " Chrome only" (classic version)

Not surprisingly, the growing size requirements of RAM etc have annoyed me for a few years now - the love of everything flashy/Ajaxy etc always leaves me bemused ( prefer the plain old HTML/ASP/PHP with no JS/Flash/Java etc requirements myself) Yeah, but then they couldn't bombard you with a page f...

Slow Scroll

Is it just me, or has Avant gotten slower when scrolling a web page? Seems that since build 112 anytime I scroll a page my system slows to a crawl and Process Explorer shows ybrowser using 80% of the CPU. This only happens while scrolling, and the larger the page the slower it goes. These pages don'...

Re: speed traps

You are right Tinman57. I guess the more people report speed traps the more accurate it will be. What they really need is an app, that when commanded sends a speed trap report with the GPS coordinates. This way it can be updated live and with little interaction while driving. Of course this can als...

What I "say" bothers you? TOO BAD for you! What you "say" does not bother me! ... also TOO BAD for you! You'll find that most people agree with you on your assessment of Avant sucking with a loud vacuuming noise, including myself. But running your mouth at the other posters isn't going to solve the...

Re: Do a " Chrome only" (classic version)

I use IE8 on a daily basis, and I have quite a few add-ons/plug-ins. When a website don't get along with IE, then I fire up Firefox. I don't know if Avant disabled all the spying in the Chrome engine or not, but either way I wouldn't use it if it was the only option for Avant. Of course this is MY O...

Re: Don't load all tabs' contents when starting

We already have this option. If you have Avant option set to prompt for all open tabs when closing, the next time you start Avant you'll get the option to load whichever tabs you want.

It would be great if it were updated live, the cops move around quite a bit. One good thing about it is it will give a visitor or someone new to the area an idea of where the cops like to play or where they play most often....

Re: Which bugs will be fixed, and which ones will be ignored

Yes, Avant does suck now, I totally agree. Now I wish I hadn't of made the donation for Avant, if I knew then what I know now.... Something about hindsight..... Seeing how I mostly use IE, I think I'll go back to Maxthon. I'll figure that out after I take a look at the other front-ends offered for I...

Roboform won't add itself to Avant firefox engine if you don't have firefox browser Installed in your computer.Setting firefox engine as default makes no difference either. You need to add it manually. Well gee, no wonder I could never get it to work......... So I have to install Firefox and then i...
