Re: Can you add '' Open link in a new window background ''

Not sure if this will work, but you can always change it back if it doesn't. There is a value in aBout:config called browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground - change this value to true and it might work.

Re: Error on xpcom_core.dll on FoxNews.com and some Indian sites

I am not sure if xpcom_core.dll is needed for Orca since it is compiled. Nonetheless, if you are running Firefox 3.0 there should be a directory like \Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org\GRE\1.9a1_(somenumbers)\where you should be able to locate the xpcom_core.dll. Copy it to the same directory a...

Re: orca crashing but it said BROWSER.exe

@andy2004 - browser.exe would not show up in a folder or a subfolder. Every program that is running is given a name in the taskmanager. To bring up the taskmanager hold down the keys Ctrl-Shift-ESC simultaneously. After the first couple of Alpha versions of Orca, the memory name changed from browser...

Re: Is there a "Safe Mode" for Orca?

Unfortunately, I do not know of anyway that Orca can be started in "safe" mode. You could do a search through Windows Explorer for piclensstub.dll and delete it; cross your fingers, and fire up Orca. It is possible that it might work. However, piclens (the cooliris folk) also put a new folder under ...

Re: The Way To Successfully Enable Google Toolbar

@mariano81 - The gecko engine is basically a set of commands not unlike javascript that can be accessed basically through a "macro". Essentially, staying within the chrome of the engine one can create a browser. But, like most interpreted programs, it will run slower. Creating a C or a C++ interface...

Re: Orca will not go to any site

If Orca is not working, please give the OS and perhaps the video card you are using. It would seem that many who are running Vista are having a problem.

Re: The Way To Successfully Enable Google Toolbar

The interface (the toolbars) are part of the programmer's executable. This is what gives Orca its speed. The programmer does not use the full chrome in the gecko engine to implement the creation of toolbars from what I have seen. Ad-ons seem to work where no manipulation of things like toolbars, scr...

Re: orca crashing but it said BROWSER.exe

In an early alpha version of Orca, the programmer used browser.exe as the memory name for Orca rather than Orca.exe. If you bring up the taskmanager (Ctrl-Shift-Esc), and click on the tab Processes, it will list all of the programs running. Early on I noticed that the programmer had utilized browser...

Re: Feature request: a button to disable/enable java

If you are referring to disabling Java applet, this is found under Tools. As a workaround for javascript type about:config into the url and then to find javascript or java type in the word. You should see an enable.javascript and you can change it to false. Since the interface is provided by one pro...

Re: Memory access error

Like you, AlvinPing, I am only guessing. When you close down Orca normally, there is a delay as it writes information to the hard drive - usually, the last websites visited. If that process were terminated before the program shutdown completely, you might get that error - particularly since you said...

Re: Orca will not go to any site

@KennyGC - sorry you are having such problems. I am not familiar with Kapersky firewall, but I looked up how to see its rules are set: http://support.kaspersky.com/kis7/firewall?qid=208279504 . From this you can tell what Applications are able to communicate with a system and which are excluded. It ...

Re: Orca will not go to any site

It appears that you may have to re-install. It is possible that the profile got corrupted in setup. Uninstall the program. Unfortunately, this will not remove all components of the program. Go into Windows Explorer and manually delete the Orca folder under \Program Files. Then, go under \Documents a...

Click on Tools-Proxy. Try direct connection rather than internet explorer. You might have to close and re-open the browser. Does the online storage prompt come up when you start it?

Re: Orca wont open after...

Look here: http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=24026 to see how (sometimes) you can remove an extension and get Orca up again. The instruction covers both a clean install and/or a short cut that does not always work. In the case of Cooliris if you are going to try the shortcut, the fo...

Re: Orca!!!!!

Like many uninstallers, Orca leaves behind settings so that you won't have re-input passwords, etc. To clean install, first run uninstall. Then, using Windows Explorer go to \Program Files\Orca and delete that subdirectory (only the Orca subdirectory not Program Files. Then, go to \Documents and Set...

Those are files commonly used by gecko engine interfaces, but I do not believe that Orca uses either.

Download a new install file, uninstall your present Orca and then re-install it.

@bigC - terminology for Gecko is mixed. Go to this site: http://www.jokersupdates.com/ It is a Big Brother cam update. Within the box that says BBUSA Latest Updates find the words Quick View and click on that. This will launch a Window that is within Orca but separate from the webpage itself. This i...

Re: Orca Beta - First Impressions...

Orca now does true Windows. Previously, clicking on an item that should have brought up a small window with the content inside it, Orca would bring it up in a new tab but a tab that looked like a full page which was called a layer. Orca now treats a window like a window. It is a little more demandin...
