Right Click : Save Target As...
Unless you want to use the Open option of IE's download manager. I'm quite sure you have to cope with it in that case until there is a force-open-in-same-tab option.

I might try at one of those sites when shopthestates.com opens back up in a few weeks, depending on how much shipping costs.

TechTV recommended RegScrubXP so I tried it. It seems to work ok, maybe a little more barebones than you are looking for?

Is Tools : Avant Browser Options... : Files and Protocols : *.url checked?
If not, check it. If so, are you using Windows XP SP2? From browsing these forums it seems people who have WXP SP2 have trouble with opening .URL files in Avant.

Go to Tools : Internet Options : Temporary Internet Files Settings... : Temporary Internet Files Folder View Objects... and delete any objects listed as "Unknown" or "Damaged." This is the solution that fixed it for me before. I don't see how the two are really related, but it worked. See http://tal...

While we're on the subject, I'll repeat the old call for the "open recent" function to open its own tab rather than use the current. I got used to click shift... I'd rather keep the functionality to be able to open it in the same window, it's sometimes useful if I don't really care about the curren...

Well, allowing it to appear right under the cursor in an interactive flash object or an image map would be really inconvenient. I'd personally go the direction of having an option to have it appear in the upper left corner (a la IE and Maxthon/MyIE2) or where it is now (or disabled of course).

Ah. 'Sok :P
As for the form field exploit, I look at the screen when I type so I would notice if what I was typing were not appearing in the field I want it to. I usually only visit sites I trust anyhow, so I'm not overly concerned.

Ah. I see what you mean.
I actually disabled the toolbars, because during long browser sessions they stall my computer for several seconds while they load. It's probably because I only have 128MB of RAM, which is bad enough on Windows XP.

Or do you mean something in the toolbar?
