Backwards links are pages that have links to the website you are browsing. So if you go to the Avant Browser homepage and right click "backwards links" you will get a list of pages that link to the Avant Browser homepage. Clicking on any of those pages you should indeed find such a link somewhere. ...

There seem to be more items in my right-click window--."Translate into English" (neat!) and "back links"--but what are "back links"? Sara :) Backwards links are pages that have links to the website you are browsing. So if you go to the Avant Browser homepage and right click "backwards links" you wi...

Where is Mariuz? I'm curious to see the Change Log on these new builds. If they're are not any significant changes, then I doubt I'll even bother d-loading it. http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic.php?t=3854 Has nothing to do with Mariuz, changelog is copied here from the AB page by whoever noti...

Ya, the copywrite date is just when you started working on it, not when it was released.

Ya, IEOpera, Gorilla Browser (the name of this program for about a week) and Avant all used the same website design. The current version of the site only came out with the release of AB 8.0

Nice find!

Actually this forum had as its predesessor a Yahoo Groups mailing list, believe it or not. That obvioulsy wasn't a very efficient way of doing things, so it was quickly replaced by a forum. I tried to dig up the old Yahoo groups page, but it seems to have been deleted.

You will never find a version 1 or 2, though, Avant's predecessor, IEOpera, began at version 6.5. At that time, Opera was at version 6 and so IEOpera was listed at 6.5 to make it look like an upgrade to Opera.

So if you manage to find 6.5, that's the equivalent of 1.0

You'll have to forgive Angeldust, he's from Toronto, where there isn't a whole lot of French. Of course, there's not a whole lot to do in Toronto either, so he should have plenty of time to learn! 8) :P

1) There are no plans to introduce AB into Linux or make it into an independent browser. 2) Longhorn is at least 2 years away. That may not seem like much, but it's actually longer than AB's been in existence, so a lot can happen in that time. 3) I believe it will be not to difficult to modify AB to...

Pip, In the top screenshot, you are not logged in, since it says "Log in to check your private messages". Your choice of skins is stored in your profile, which obviously is only accessible once you log in, so that seems to be what is causing the trouble. Did you check the "automatically log me in ea...

Re: New name perhaps....

Not really comparing populations. French is spoken in many many countries covering every continent except Australia, whereas Italian I believe is largely limited to Italy and its neighbours. I believe there really is no comparison.

Re: New name perhaps....

What is it that confuses you, Sara? Odysseus pointed out Avanti translates to "forward" in Italian and thought it might therefore be an interesting name change for AB. I commented that Avant translates to basically the same thing in French, and that there are even more French-speakers in the world t...

Re: New name perhaps....

Avant means "in front of" or "ahead of" in French, and there are far more French speaking people in the world than Italian speaking people, so I'm not sure that argument makes a whole lot of sense.

Re: Avant - Can it fight back?

One of the statements I see about Avant is how stable it is and I was wondering if you folks are saying it's as stable as IE? Doesn't Avant require the same critical MS patches that seem to get released more and more often to patch security holes? Stability and security are unrelated. AB is no more...
