Re: Getting rid of the rotten 'Avant find' search

Attitude is deserved considering the problem foisted upon me and no doubt countless others! Note: following your advise of 'Please make sure to uncheck the Avantfind error page under Tools>Avant Browser Options...>Miscellaneous' makes no difference whatsoever! The MONSTER 'Avant Find' will not be re...

Re: Getting rid of the rotten 'Avant find' search

Obviously Avant management has decided to get real 'slick' with their 'made in ****' search engine. I've already tried your suggestion before my original post and it may have worked once, but tricky dickey management have made sure it works no more! Stuff Avant. Do they really think they have a mono...

Re: To IE7 or not to IE7 ....?

I guess a no there really. Aavnt Browser uses no more ram, IE7 does [which of course Avant relies on]. Semantics I suppose. If your short on ram [less than 1/2g], I'd suggest setting your paging file to 2 1/2 times [no more] the size of your ram for both max an min usage levels, because basically th...

Re: To IE7 or not to IE7 ....?

I'm already using it with Avant without problems.

I thought Bill's comments and warnings might be a good read for those thinking: 'with IE7 who needs Avant' ?

Re: To IE7 or not to IE7 ....?

Akabilk didn't offer any 'conclusions' about IE7. The thread was put here for punters to make up their own mind.

To IE7 or not to IE7 ....?

Tuesday, October 24, 2006 [from winpartol's 'bits from Bill'] IE 7, click "Don't Install" 'I recently wrote how Microsoft was going to install IE7 as part of an automatic update. I provided information on the “Internet Explorer 7 Update Blocker” After a week of using IE 7 I have decided it’s worthle...

I'm missing something basic here [?]

For some reason my 10.52 version of Avant has developed the habit of [from a fresh start up] returning me to the last site I was on before going on to a new site I have entered from favorites.

I'm sure it is some basic control I've missed to stop Avant doing this but I can't seem to find it [?]

Re: New Avant ..a step backward?

I think Arandora's post above makes a huge point. Most everyday punters out there aren't tech savvy, don't visit the [many] forums that often specifically represents various bits of software that is on their PC's. Excruciating as it may be for some to consider, the average Joe has no more interest i...

Re: New Avant ..a step backward?

I wouldn't presume to call it "half-baked" but I certainly don't like it as much V.10. In fact installed it and uninstalled. A pain to manually set up my own Search etc. preferences but with the Sticky Help it can be done. Same with using IE Favorites which I prefer but I would really miss the Grou...

Re: Importing favorites

I think you will have to import your favorites into Internet Explorer as there is no 'import/export' in Avant to do the job. The favorites imported to IE will then be accessible from Avant.

Open IE and go to 'file' and then 'import/export' and import the favorites from your source.

Re: Domain Hijack ?

The IP belongs to my ISP Internode [Australia] but it should just be 10.1.1.1 I did a firmware upgrade in my router 2 days ago [it wasn't sending or receiving but was registering as 'connected' and all the correct lights were on]. After the firmware upgrade [all security had to be turned off while d...
