Re: re AvB2012
You need to set the location of the Mozilla engine cache folder. - Browse to about:config - Continue past the warning message - Right click the bottom panel - Select: New >> String - Set the preference name to: browser.cache.disk.parent_directory - Set the value to a folder such as: C:\Temp\ - Resta...

Re: Hotmail & Firefox engine
Build 171 seems to have a problem with Microsoft Silverlight - the framework engine that powers Hotmail.
As a workaround, you can access their basic mobile version at: https://mail.live.com/md/

Re: Multiple installations facebook issue
You are correct, I have just tested it and it does use the same profile, it can be checked in about:cache
I have just done some preliminary tests on an OrcaXtra replacement and it works here. If I am able to test it successfully on some systems other than XP then I shall release it.

Re: in browser updater
I guess that the closest is to manually click: Help >> Check for New VersionbigC wrote:So is there anyway to manually initiate an auto update? If not, I'd like to request such an option if possible.
But that just gives you a notification and takes you to the download page.

Re: Multiple installations facebook issue
Are you sure that each instance is using a different profile (ie portable mode)? If so, then try to set the Mozilla cache location for each Avant instance to a different location (the way that OrcaXtra automatically did so). The setting can be found at: about:config >> browser.cache.disk.parent_dire...

Re: Issue with IE and Avant using WYSIWYG Toolbar
I believe you found the problem!!! Glad to get a positive result... eventually. Now I just have to find a way to stop Avant from adding itself to the UserAgentString I'm not sure that you can, but I have previously written an article to automate the process - it is just a registry file. Follow the ...

Re: Issue with IE and Avant using WYSIWYG Toolbar
Anyway, why would those option in Avant break the toolbar in IE directly? Sorry - I did not read your first post fully. Avant should not change any IE settings so maybe your IE install is corrupted. As you stated, the first port of call would always be to reset Internet Explorer back to its default...

Have you tried to disable the following:

Whats up kudos? Hey bigC, sorry that I've not been about much lately, just been busy with life. But you're doing a sterling job in my absence, mate, Mr Reliable ;-) What exactly does changing that setting do? Just curious It allows you to run Avant on a portable device by pointing to the profile in...

Re: Mozilla FireFox Connection Settings (still) not saved.
Try the FoxyProxy extension. It works very well with Avant when in the Firefox rendering mode. It also adds an icon to the addons bar to quickly switch between proxies. There are other extensions that do a similar job too.

Re: re: AvB-TriCore
If you check the avant.exe executable, you will see that it is the same for all releases. The application checks for the Gecko/Webkit folder and its appropriate contents. Depending on the result, Avant will then enable the relevant features for the engine. Therefore, you can happily delete the Gecko...

This is a bug that affect Firefox based browsers. From Wikipedia WYCIWYG is an acronym that stands for What You Cache Is What You Get, commonly displayed in the address bar of Gecko-based Web browsers like Mozilla Firefox as wyciwyg:// when the Web browser is retrieving cached information. I assume ...
