Re: Internet Explorer 9

I am using the test build of Avant Browser right now with IE9 Beta. Before I installed the test build, the latest stable build of Avant Browser was working with IE9 Beta so far as I could tell. What part of the "full capability" of IE9's new engine was I missing? I only ask because I visited the sam...

Also, IE9 Beta has a sort of "omnibox" as well.

Re: User information on right side of screen?

Okay. Figured as much.
It's an interesting twist on the classic forum layout.
I do like the overall look, but something about having the user info on the right just bugs me.
I dunno. ;)

User information on right side of screen?

Any particular reason why user information that normally appears to the left of posts is now appearing to the right of posts?

Re: Any plans fore a ribbon interface?

The search in toolbar function like Chrome has. What does this refer to? I think he's talking about the fact that you can type a URL or search query into Google Chrome's address bar (which they call the "omnibox") instead of having use a separate box for searches like many browsers currently do (In...

Re: Avant 2010 (11.8) with IE9 Test

No. The way it was setup, there was no way to change it to IE9. And since it was only a test build to test IE9 it wasn't really meant to be used as just another build of Avant. You can manually change the engine Avant uses no matter what build you have by changing the value in the registry. Just li...

Re: Avant Browser future plans/2011 roadmap

Welcome back. Youre avatar is adorable  Thanks. It's actually a revision of my original avatar I was using way back when, probably three or four years ago. It was the same little Servbot guy, but with a different art style and holding the old Avant Browser logo. I thought it was time for a ref...

Don't you mean that the rendering controls were taken out to restrict you from changing the rendering to anything but IE9 ?

Re: Any plans fore a ribbon interface?

That would be a very bad idea. The ribbon takes up way too much space for a browser. All modern browsers like Avant, Chrome and now IE9 are reducing the control and tab area to a minimum as it should be. The minimal space of the menu and tab areas is why I don't use Chrome, IE8/9, etc. I'll agree t...

Re: Internet Explorer 9

See this post... http://forum.avantbrowser.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=28737 That thread is informative, but it doesn't actually answer the OP's question. The simple answer would be that Avant Browser uses whichever version of IE you have installed, but from what I can tell, it also allows you to alter...

Re: Avant 2010 (11.8) with IE9 Test

Hi Kudos, So, would changing registry make Avant support IE9? Anyway, here is a testing build of Avant for IE9 test. Could anybody also give it a test, and let me know if you see any problems. So far I can see is file download not working. But we are working on the new download manager. http://www....

Re: Avant Browser future plans/2011 roadmap

Hi, Anderson! It's been a while since I've posted on these forums, and it's good to see that Avant Browser is still the greatest IE based browser available for Windows. I'm using a Mac now, but I have a Windows 7 virtual machine that I've installed Avant Browser 2010 onto, so that I may continue to ...

It's hard to find software like that for free because it has to be constantly updated to reflect the addition of thousands of new pornagraphic webpages that are added to the web everyday. I don't use a filter personally because I haven't had an issue running into porngraphic websites while surfing, ...

Re: Check for new version doesn't detect new ones?

Well, it's been updated to Build 8 now, but yeah, that's an "official" release because it is on the main download page on the Avant website (as opposed to being buried in the development forum somewhere).

Re: Icons different?

I personally think that the icons look great. The faded look is good for me because I don't like to get distracted by big brightly colored icons while viewing webpages. And I do agree with whoever said that the buttons in the tabs bar seem awkwardly placed. But then again, I use Firefox and Avant al...

Zero Tab Count Minimization

I use both Avant Browser and Mozilla Firefox, and the one thing that I wish Avant Browser had (Firefox does already) is the ability to have Avant hide the tabs toolbar when only one page is open in the browser. It helps save screen space, and really adds to the browsing experience... Thanks for your...
